Recording Tips
SPECIAL NOTES: For best recording results, be sure to practice with your mic/MD recorder setup ahead of time. Remember that this mic is a high quality instrument and, thus, is very sensitive. You must be careful not to set your recording level too high and distort your recording. It is extremely important that you read the section of your MD recorder manual that deals with recording with a microphone.

For professional speakers, find a place on your jacket lapel, shirt pocket or blouse to attach the lavaliere mic. Never talk directly into the mic. The reason for this is that the "pop" of air generated by pronouncing the letters "P" and "T" will often sound like someone physically hitting the mic. This can happen even with the heavy-duty windscreen in place. So, experiment with the placement of the mic so that you get a nice full sound, without any "popping" air sounds.

Another aspect to consider in placement of the mic, is to make sure that wherever you attach it, it NEVER brushes against any fabric when you move. If it does, it can make a loud noise on your recording. So, pay particular attention to this as you experiment with placement.

Another option for mic placement is on the lectern facing up at you. Try to establish a set distance from your mouth each time, and you'll become consistent with your recording levels.

Remember, the more experience you gain in the recording process ahead of time, the more successful your sessions will be.
